Are you thankful to be a virtual assistant business owner?
“All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me… You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.” – Walt Disney
You might be giving thanks for many things this time of year but is being a virtual assistant business owner on the list?
Adversity comes in all shapes and sizes. While it may seem like the rest of the world is celebrating and having the time of their lives the holiday season can be extremely difficult for many. It’s easy to forget to be thankful you are a virtual assistant business owner when all you really want to do is clock in and out and not deal with the pressures of life and business.
Maybe you have forgotten the excitement of what it’s like to own your own business. Maybe you’ve fallen short of your goals and you aren’t on track to hit your targets by the end of the year. Maybe you’ve just lost your biggest client before the holiday season. Maybe your current situation has nothing to do with business but business seems to be the burden that is holding you back as you struggle to meet deadlines.
Not all my days are great. For many reasons, I don’t even wish for every day to be great. If they were I would never grow. I would never be stretched to new limits and know what I’m really capable of. In the moment of difficult situations and setbacks, it can be hard to remain thankful.
Often, it’s the loneliness of leadership which make us forget to be thankful. As the leader of your company sometimes simply being thankful for being in business helps us give thanks for so much more. The dream of serving others is what brings me back to center myself.
I’m thankful to be in business for so many reasons. It’s something I try not to take for granted even though it can seem trivial at times because I’ve been at it for several years now. The freedom and flexibility I enjoy, including traveling the world, sometimes is forgotten in my day to day routine because I don’t remember any other way now.
Right now, in this moment I hope you can stop and be thankful. Even if you aren’t where you want to be you can change the situation and that’s enough to be thankful for.
I write to myself as much I write to you. I’ve struggled at times to be thankful and even wondered what it’s all for. I wondered, why keep going if it’s only to be met by more challenge? When does it get easier? The answer, I keep going because it makes me better. I’m not done and have more to accomplish. It will get easier once I learn to give immediate thanks for the challenge knowing it’s my next opportunity. I couldn’t have gotten to where I am without the struggles and for that, I must give thanks.
